As managers of diving centers and schools, providing safety and professional services is of paramount importance. These factors, however, are not easy to be communicated to new customers: the real trust comes always later …
SharkNet makes it easier to communicate all the safety and professionalism of our organization. When we hand a SharkNet device to each diver and we explain that it enables us to look for them and to react to any possible issue in an even more effective manner, we are introducing ourselves as attentive and trustworthy.
The safety related functions that SharkNet carries out for us are the following:
- When divers wear the device, our personnel onboard the diving boat can check with a phone app that all divers reported in the diving list are actually onboard. As any of them begins the dive, his/her name turns red; as he/she gets back onboard, the name returns green. Leaving anybody behind, even in the most crowded areas, becomes almost impossible.
- If any diver is missing, the boat personnel can query the SharkNet device of the missing diver: if already re-emerged, the SharkNet app will indicate his/her position with an arrow and a distance displayed in Google Earth. If still underwater, the device will provide the same notice upon surfacing.
Each time a diver feels in trouble, he will be able to activate the emergency function of SharkNet, that will notify the boat personnel or whoever we deem most suited to provide assistance. This way we let our customer feel safer and more protected, even during dives at night, with strong currents or any other environmental challenge. In addition, since we are the ones that set the list of emergency contacts to be called by SharkNet, even any eventual customer’s activation that is not really due to an actual emergency won’t cause us any particular problem.
